From subsistence to commercial farming

Image
In our country, farming is generally done for subsistence purpose not for commercial purpose. Most of our farmers are small and marginal even landless labourers and share croppers. The average land area of a farmer in our country is 1.5 ha whereas it is 250 ha in other developed countries like USA. With the increasing population, average farm size is declining, which is the major hinderance for the development in agriculture sector because it is difficult for a resource poor marginal farmer to adopt new technology, farm machinery and power, irrigation or any other innovative farm practices. So, let us discuss its management in a broad sense at the policy making level.                  As agriculture is a state subject, state govt is more responsible for the development of farming and farmers. The union govt has also its role. In modern ...

Lord Jagannath, who is the head of the universe, teaches us great lesson from his activities.           The most important lesson is that the one who does wrong gets its result. Even God is not spared . Lets talk about the ' Laxmi Purana ' by the great Odia poet Balaram Das . It teaches us great social values and lessons. As we all know the story, Maa Laxmi gets pleased with the worship of Shriya Chandaluni, who is a lower caste women. With her prayer Maa Laxmi visits her. But this is not acceptable to Lord Jagannath and his elder brother Lord Balaram . So with the advice of Balaram, Jagannath gives order to Maa laxmi to leave shree Mandir. But the story does not end here..         The above decision...
